Missed Rosamund at the Salvation Army hall?

11 June 2018

Rosamund let the organisers know in advance that:

"As the Green candidate for the Lewisham East By-Election, I will not be attending the hustings taking place in the Salvation Army on 12th June 2018. While I am in total support of free speech and the public hearing from all candidates in the race for this by-election, I am concerned for my own personal safety and that of the general public who attend the event who may be subjected to racist behaviour.

"I have been campaigning non-stop since announcing that I am running for election meeting with the public and conducting as many media interviews as possible to ensure my priorities are known across the constituency. I will be pressing ahead with my planned meeting with Lewisham East residents and businesses on Monday 11 June at St Swithun's Church. I'm very happy to answer any questions that the electorate has ahead of the by-election on Thursday, 14 June and I call upon all residents to use their vote to ensure that all voices are heard on the day.

This is a critical time for all involved in the by-election. What matters most is that the people of Lewisham East vote for the candidate whom they feel best represents their needs. There is no time to be distracted by side-shows, which unfortunately I feel the hustings runs the risk of becoming."
